Charles Edward "Charlie" CRUM was the fourth on nine children and the oldest son of Jacob Solomon CRUM and Martha Adeline BURCH.
Charlie's father was a farmer in Monroe County Indiana and Charlie became a farmer as well.
He was married in April 1911 to Elsa Evangeline REED. He was 22 and Elsie was 23.
The couple had three children:
Russell Elbert Crum 1912 – 1983
Beulah Elin Crum 1916 – 1979
Charles J Crum 1919 – 2003
In his middle years he took his wife's parents, Joseph P. REED and Clara Josephine HOLTZMAN, into his home. His own parents lived on an adjoining farm.
His wife, Elsie, died in 1959 at the age of seventy-two. Charlie died of a stroke at the age of ninety.
