Jane was born in Surrey Co NC, the daughter of George Burch and Martha Lawrence. When Jane was in her early teens, her parents and most of her extended family moved to Greene Co IN. When she was 16, Jane married to Peter Lunsford Storm on Jan 23, 1823.

During the 1850s Jane and Peter moved their family to Jasper County Missouri, but the Civil War took a tragic tole. Jane's husband Peter and son William were killed by federal sympathizers. Jane returned to Indiana sometime after 1870 and died there in 1883.
