Frank was a coal miner who immigrated from Germany with his step-father John Seiler, his mother Dorothea and three siblings in 1881. His father Mr. Homan having died in Germany, he took the Seiler surname. They lived in Hollister until his mother Dorothea died in 1906, after which the family moved to Glouster.

Frank married Elizabeth Schwalbach and they had six children, Lena, Harold, Isabelle, Helen, Frank Jr. and Jack. He re-married to Etta after Elizabeth died.
