On 12 Feb 1845 Levi married Eliza CAMPBELL, a Kentucky native.
Levi was from a farming family and began his career predictably as a farmer in the Bloomington Twp district of Monroe Co. IN. Sometime in the next decade, however, Levi made a dramatic move west and by 1860, he and Eliza were residing in Yreka, Siskiyou Co. CA, in the Shasta Valley. It's unclear why Levi made the move west, but the Shasta Valley area had boomed in the wake of the discovery of gold and there were more stage lines out of Yreka than any other community in the state. Levi's occupation in 1860 continued to be farming, but he and Eliza shared their dwelling with Peter Batterton, a former Bloomington merchant, and Peter's son, W. D. Batterton was also in Yreka as a merchant. Whether the Battertons' presence is coincidental to Levi Burch's move west is unknown. By 1867, Levi was on the voter's rolls of Sonoma Valley, CA and was employed as a laborer.
Levi's movements between 1867 and 1880 are not known, but it would appear his western venture was not a profitable one. By 1880, Levi had returned to Indiana and was working for his brother George as a farmhand. He was a widower by 1880 so it appears Eliza had died. Levi is not known to have had any children.
Levi died 17 Aug 1880 at the age of fifty-five.

Inscription
Levi Burch.
Born Sept, 18 1824.
Died Dec. 17 1880.
Although he sleeps, his memory doth live
And cheering comforts to his mourners give.
He followed virtue as his truest guide,
Lived as a Christian, as a Christian died.
