The passing of Perry Hyatt of Ansley removes from our midst another of the pioneers who have been the makers of prosperity in this big county. Coming to Nebraska as a lad and to Broken Bow before he had reached his majority he gave his youth and mature manhood to the hills and valleys in the Clear creek neighborhood northeast of Ansley. The Hyatt family was well known and respected and counted among the substantial citizens of the county.
Walter Perry Hyatt, son of A.W. and Loraine Hyatt was born in Knox county, Ohio, April 17, 1864 and departed the life at Ansley, Neb. Feb. 1,1927, aged 62years 9months and 13days. He moved with his parents to Saunders county, Nebraska in 1877 and remained there about 6 years when they moved to Custer county, where he continued to resided till the time of his death. Nov. 17,1885 he was married to Emma Jane Crist and they established their home on a claim at Ash Canyon, northeast of Ansley. To this union were born four children: Catharine Loraine, Ira Walter, Clair Dwight and Jewell Emmet, all of whom were at the bedside of their father, except Clair who lives at Worland, Wyo. He united with the Christian church at the age of 16 years, of which he was faithful member until the time of his death. He had been failing in health for about two years and May 1926 he went to Worland, Wyo. for his health, which seemed to improve until about Dec. 20, he changed for the worse. He then came back to his Ansley home until the time of his death. He was an industrious kind and loving father. He leaves a large circle of friends, who with his wife and children mourn his departure. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one daughter, Catharine, three sons, Walter, Clair and Jewell and three sisters, Mrs. C.W. Parmenter, Mrs. E.A. Marsh and Mrs. J.C. Crawford, two brothers, John, all of Ansley and E.B. Hyatt of Colorado Springs. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.W. Kratzer of the Christian church where Mr. Hyatt had attended church most of his life and had done much toward making the Liberty church possible years ago. Burial took place at he Lee Park cemetery.
