S.R. Rainbolt
Sylvester R. [S.?] Rainbolt was born in Davis county, Iowa, Nov. 12, 1851. He grew to manhood in Iowa and in 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna King, who died fifteen years ago.
To this union, then children were born, nine now living: five sons, Ernest, Ira, Clyde, Burr and Cecil, and four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Nystrom, Mrs. Ina Putter, and Leona and Elsie.
The family came to Kansas in 1897, and to Garfield in 1909.
He had won his way into the friendship of this community. Though living somewhat of a retired life, he had many friends and was honored and respected by all who knew him.
Some two weeks ago, he was stricken with apoplexy, which resulted in his death Dec. 10, 1919.
His funeral, which took place from the Congregational church, Monday, Dec. 15th, was in charge of the undertaker from Lewis.
Rev. Payton, of the Methodist church, preached the sermon and conducted the burial services at the grave.
"We live in deeds, not years;
in thoughts, not breaths,
in feelings, not in figures on the dial.
We should count time by heart throbs.
He most lives, who thinks most,
feels noblest and acts the best."
