Rose A. Bell (called Rosa Bell to her family) was born in Missouri and came west to Oregon with her parents on a train before the turn of the 19th century. During their travels, the train wrecked and the Kretzer family lost all their possessions.
Rosa Bell married Wesley Porter Burtch on March 4, 1895 in LaGrande Oregon. They moved to Walla Walla, WA and had six children: 1) Veda Burtch (1895 - 1905); 2) Annie Burtch (1898-1907); 3) Elsie (1901-1981); 4) Carolyn (1903 - ?); and 5) Ruth (1905-1974).
Rosa Bell died May 20, 1913 of cancer and was buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla Washington with her husband, his father, and the first two of their children, Veda and Annie, who died young during childhood.
