SUTTON-- Edward F. LaCrosse, 81, of 61-A
Bougainvillea Drive in De Bary, Fla., formerly of
Sutton, a retired Sutton police chief, died
Friday, March 10, in Fish Memorial Hospital in
Orange City, Fla.
He leaves his wife, Shirley F. (Clark)
LaCrosse; two daughters, Brenda Benoit of
Clearwater, Fla., and Marcia
LaCrosse-Stephan of Deltona, Fla.; four
brothers, Donald LaCrosse of Worcester,
Charles LaCrosse of North Grafton, and Robert
and William LaCrosse, both of Millbury; three
sisters, Margaret and Mabel Stockwell and Rita
Koziara, all of Millbury; three grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Born
in Millbury, son of Edward A. and Mary
(Lynch) LaCrosse, he lived in Sutton before
moving to Florida in 1993. A World War II
Army veteran, he served in Europe, Africa, and
the Middle East.
Mr. LaCrosse was the first full-time police
chief in Sutton from 1968 until retiring due to
illness in 1972. Previously, he was the part-time
Sutton police chief for two years and a part-time
police officer. He was a Worcester County
deputy sheriff and owned the Landmark Sutton
Service Station.
He was a member of St. Ann's Church in
De Bary and a former member of St. Mark's
Church. He was a member of the
Massachusetts Chief of Police Association, the
Retired State, County and Municipal Employees
Association of Massachusetts, the South Works
Veterans of Foreign of Wars Post in Worcester
and the Sutton Historical Society.
The funeral will be held Friday, March 17,
from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St.,
Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's
Church, 356 Boston Road. Burial will be in
Howard Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8
p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the funeral home.

Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Juvenile
Diabetes Association, 2 Mount Royal Ave.,
