Mrs. Joe R. Vrazel, nee Albina Baros, of Shiner died at a Care Inn Nursing Home in Gonzales at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 1977 at the age of 91 years and 29 days.

Rosary was recited Sunday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. by the parish and at 7:45 p.m. by the Altar Society at the Buffington Funeral Home, Shiner, where the body lay in state until an hour before service time when it was taken to the church.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with Holy Mass offered by the Rev. Frederick Gallagher.

Burial was in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Adolph Simper, John F. Vrazel, John Vrazel, Laddie Vrazel, Charlie Baros and Victor Pulkrabek.

Mrs. Vrazel, one of 12 children, was born December 16, 1885, at Frelsburg, Austin County, Texas, daughter of Florian and Rosalie (Zajicek) Baros, natives of Czechoslovakia.

In 1892, the family moved to Gonzales County and established their home on a farm in the Kokernot community.

On Nov. 7, 1905, she was married to Joe R.. Vrazel in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner with the Rev. Jos. Hudecek officiating.

The couple first made their home in the Dilworth community. Three years later they bought a farm at Kokernot, where they resided for over half a century. In 1960, the couple observed their 55th wedding anniversary. Her husband died Nov. 16, 1961.

Soon thereafter, she moved to Shiner and made her home next door to her sister and niece, Mrs. Frances Jurek and Mrs. Gussie Netardus. For the past two years and nine months, she had been a resident at the Care Inn.

She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Willie (Emma) Dreyer; grandson, Buford Dreyer, both of Rt. 2, Shiner at Glaze City; two brothers, Ed Baros of Victoria, Adolph Baros of San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Emma) Barkmeyer of San Antonio, Mrs. John (Christina) Vrazel of Corpus Christi.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Aug. 1929; her father, Aug. 10, 1941; four brothers, John F. Baros, Jan. 8, 1961; Frank Baros, July 1, 1969; Rudolph J. Baros, Mar. 15, 1970; Emil F. Baros, Dec. 4, 1975; four sisters, Julie Baros, Aug. 20, 1919; Mrs. John (Frances) Jurek, June 17, 1971; Paulina Baros, Dec. 31, 1887; and Mrs. Adolph (Pauline) Jaks.
