Robert was the son of Jacob and Clarissa Wygant Hufford. He was a carpenter for the Ford Plate Glass Company. Robert married Sarah May Foster on 18 April 1897 in Wood County, Ohio, and they had three children: Marguerite, Robert (Bob), and Geraldine. Bob and Geraldine lived next to each other their entire lives on their father's land. Robert was of medium height and build with brown eyes and dark brown hair. he died from hypertension and myocarditis at the age of 69 years and 6 months.
