Oscar Ray Burgess 82 of Calico Rock died March 7 at the Calico Rock Medical Centery.

Funeral services were March 9 at Howard Funeral Chapel in Calico Rock with Brother Ralph Willis of Batesville officiating. Burial was at Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were James Portfield, Charles Townsend, Denny Copland, Carl Russell, Loyd Lively and Walter Boyd.

Born at Twin Creek, he was a lifelong resident of Izard County. He was a retired mill worker and a member of the Church of Christ. He married Beulah Lawrence on Sept 28, 1928.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Noel Burgess, Johnny Burgess and Jimmy Burgess, all of Calico Rock; four daughters, Mrs Maxine Lynn of Iuka, Mrs Opa Gillihan of Melbourne, Mrs Melba Gillihan and Mrs Marily Smith, both of Calico Rock; a sister, Mrs Rita Lawrence of Calico Rock, 16 grandchildren ad 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one son, Alvin Burgess.
