Her father was John Ulmer and her mother, Katherine (Litzenburger) Ulmer. They lived near Limberg, Austria when Katie was born.

Katie came to Canada about 1882 on the same ship as her future husband. She married Christ Schultz 24 February 1892 in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, Canada.

From 1892 to 1899 they lived on their homestead at Grenfell, Saskatchewan, Canada. In December 1899 with their three children, they came to the United States. The following spring they moved to Odessa, Lincoln Co., WA where they lived in what is called Lake Creek near Coffee. In 1914 they made their home in Harrington, WA. Moving from here in 1940 to Spokane, WA where they both passed away.

They belonged to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

"Katie died following a second stroke.

They had 14 children.
