The Parkersburg News, Parkersburg, WV 01 Aug 1955 Front Page/Pg 3: BLIND FARMER KILLS HIMSELF WITH REVOLVERAn 85-year-old retired Wood County farmer, who had been blind for a number of years and also had been in ill health recently, was found dead early yesterday in a bedroom in his home with a bullet wound in his head which authorities said was self-inflicted.Marco Bozzaris (Marc) Lockhart, of Rt 5, Cedar Grover, was last seen alive Saturday at 11:50 a.m. when he went to bed, State Trooper Richard P. Smith said.He wife, who slept in an adjoining room, found the body of her husband at 4:30 a.m. Authorities said Mrs. Lockhart appeared to be hard of hearing and did not hear the shot that ended the aged man's life.Mr. Lockhart apparently sat down on the edge of a bed before firing the fatal bullet into his left temple, Trooper Smith said. The .32 caliber revolver was found on the bed.Dr. Richard W. Corbitt, Wood county corner, termed the death suicide.Mr. Lockhart was born in Wirt county, Dec. 2, 1869, a son of G. H. and Bertha Monroe Lockhart and was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He had lived in Wood county approximately 30 years.Survivors include his wife; a son, Harry T. Lockhart, Palestine, Rt 3; and two daughters, Mrs. E. G. Morehead of Porterfield, O., and Mrs. G. G. Allman of Parkersburg, Rt. 5.He was preceded in death by an infant child, four sisters and three brothers.The body was removed to Pomroy Mace funeral home in Elizabeth and at 4 p.m. today will be taken to Shaver and Byham funeral home in Parkersburg where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. wit the Rev. K. T. Board and the Rev. Herman Ross of Parkersburg officiating.
