Clarence Webster "Andy" Andrews Jr., March 7, 1924-June 1, 2010.
Mr. Andrews, a former real estate agent in Durham County, was born in Ft Pierce, Florida, the son of a reputed chemist in the tobacco industry. At the age of 17, he was a Seal in the U.S. Army during the Pacific operations of World War II, and also participated in the reconstruction of Japan after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. He was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a member of the Civitan Club and a Son of the American Revolution.
Andy is survived by his two sons, Clarence Webster (Webb) Andrews III of Durham, Dennis Dean Andrews of Rochegude, France; two daughters-in-law, Mary Linda Andrews of Durham and Martine Delhomme Andrews of Rochegude, France; four grandchildren, Jerome, Juliette, and Nicolas Andrews (France) and Kerry Andrews (Durham). Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Sally Dean Knight (K. Coffield Knight); niece, Scotty Knight of Chapel Hill; nephew, Kevin Knight and his wife, Abby Marsh Knight; great nieces, Anna and Bailey; and great nephew, Caleb of Arlington, Virginia; a brother-in-law, William Rix Dean Jr. of Chapel Hill. Also surviving are the nieces of his sister, Barbara Overman (deceased); brother-in-law, Bill Overman; nieces, Karon Overman and Rhonda Hernandez; great niece, Kynlee; and great nephew, Brendan Hernandez of Kernersville; and nephew, Rodney Overman of Winston-Salem. A number of cousins in Durham also survive.
