Mrs. Margaret Haas, aged 88 years, 2 months and 1 day, died at the home of her son, Frank Haas, in this city at noon on Sunday, June 19th, 1932, after an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Haas was born in St. Louis on April 18th, 1844. There she spent her childhood and received her education. At the age of 20 years she was united in marriage to George Foster in St. Louis. Seven children were born to this union, all of whom with the husband and father fell victim to cholera and black diphtheria and passed away. About a year after the death of her first husband the deceased came to Trenton, where a little later she was united in marriage to John George Haas, who died in December, 1909. After her marriage to Mr. Haas they moved to a farm near Albers, where they lived until the death of her husband. Several years ago she came to this city and made her home with Mrs. Hock, a personal friend, but when she was taken down with her last illness she was taken to the home of her son, where she received the best of treatment in her last days. She is survived by one son, Frank Haas, of this city, two step-sons, Fred Haas of New Baden and Anton Haas of St. Louis, several grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was a devoted member of the Catholic church and was active in church work in her younger days. The funeral took place Wednesday morning, Rev. F. Kuhls conducted services at St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock, after which burial took place at the Catholic Cemetery east of town. (Trenton Sun, Trenton, Clinton County, Illinois, 23 June 1932).
