Teresa was born in Minnesota where her parents homesteaded. At approximately 18 years of age, she moved with her family to a farm in northern Thurston county, Washington; and, they also had a house in nearby Steilacoom, Pierce County.

Teresa married Ernest Alonzo Boatman in approximately 1880, and they lived in Orting, Pierce county during their marriage. She died in December of 1904, from "[p]robably neuralgia of heart" with "[s]arcoma of jaw" as a contributing factor
