Sarah Ann Grubb was born April 25, 1841, near Brimfield, Portage County, Ohio. Died at Kirwin, Kansas, December 20, 1928. She was married to Isaac N. Deppen April 25, 1858, at the age of 17 years at Canton, Ohio.

To this union were born five sons and one daughter:
Lewis Addision Deppen
Lucy Minette Deppen
Franklin Abraham Deppen
Simon Peter Deppen
Canby Norman Deppen
John Jacob Deppen.

She leaves to mourn her death five children and eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Early in life she joined the church and was a great worker in her denomination. She was not only a mother to her own children but mothered her grandchildren. She was a good neighbor and a loyal friend to all.

Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lucy Horsman, December 29, conducted by Rev. G. K. Goodwin.

Three members of the family were sick in bed at the time with the flu. Interment was made in the Kirwin Cemetery.

She was the eldest daughter of Simon Peter Grubb. The family moved from Portage County to Elkhart County, Indiana, around 1850; she married Isaac Deppen (presumably there) on April 25, 1858.
