Mrs. Eliza Dickinson, Pioneer of Great Falls, Dies

Mrs. Eliza H. Dickinson, 70, wife of Christopher N. Dickinson, Sr., only living member of the first city council and resident of Great Falls for 59 years, died Monday morning at the family home, 327 Fourth avenue north.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Church of the Incarnation, the Rev. T. Malcolm Jones officiating.

Mrs. Dickinson had lived in Great Falls 52 years and in Montana 54 years. She was born Feb. 24, 1873, at Carlyle, Ill., daughter of Thomas J. Richardson. At the age of 16 she came to Montana to make her home with an uncle, C. C. Turner, on a ranch on Box Elder creek west of Belt. Her marriage to Dickinson took place on a the ranch Dec. 15, 1891, and since that time Great Falls had been her home.

Surviving are her husband; five children: Mrs. Ralph Bancroft of San Francisco, Mrs. Dorothy Ball, H. Norwood and C. N. Dickenson, Jr., of Great Falls, and Dr. E. T. Dickenson of Eureka; two grandchildren, Dick Ball, with the Marines in the south Pacific and Pamela Jean Dickenson, 4, of Eureka; and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Crowfoot of Hollywood. All the children were with her at the time of death.
