Leonard "Vern" Bagby, 78, Topeka, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Midland Hospice House.

He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Eudora, Kan., the son of Leonard N. and Ada Kurtz Bagby. He was a graduate of Eudora High School.

He was employed as a supervisor for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Lawrence, and the Canada Dry distributor in Topeka. He was the owner and operator of the Grade B Milk Route and retired from Grade A Dairying in Shawnee and Jackson Counties in 1989.

He married Rose Winchell on Feb. 14, 1959, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Ed Reusch, of Auburn, Kan., John McNish, of Topeka, Keith Bagby, of Circleville, Kan., and Wayne Bagby, of Topeka; six daughters, Janice Cummins-Bracken, of Topeka, Faye Rodecap, of Carbondale, Kan., Linda Meisenheimer, of Overbrook, Kan., Yvonne Wright, of Topeka, Connie Allen, of Topeka, and Marilyn Welling, of Pittsburg, Kan.; two sisters, Ruby Peaslee, of Perry, Kan., and Rita Heine, of Lawrence, Kan.; 37 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bagby, in 1998.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Bagby will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
