He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Excelsior Methodist Church in Jeff Davis County.
He was survived by his second wife: Ruby Best Johnson, one daughter, Hilda Johnson and husband Lewey Cato of Hamlet NC.; one step-daughter, Sylvia Johnson Daniel of Odum; one step-son, Allen Johnson of Brunswick, GA.; 2 sisters, Bessie Johnson Clough of Douglas, GA, and Ruby Johnson Smith of Denton, GA.; twin brother, Dewey Johnson of Hazlehurst, GA.; 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11am on Tuesday, January 20, 1987 at the First United Methodist Church in Hazlehurst, with the burial in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
