Donald Clifford Wardle, age 82, of American Fork, Utah passed away August 10, 2007 after a courageous battle from complications of cancer.

Don was born May 19, 1925 in Boise, Idaho to Hyrum Chester and Vera Iva Holtsclaw Wardle. He was the fourth of ten children. He spent his early years in Boise. While serving in the Navy during World War II as a radio communication and teletype operator, he earned the Victory Medal and the Purple Heart. He also served in the Army National Guard after the war.

Don married Shirley Allen on October 19, 1947 in Richmond, California. They were sealed in the Oakland California temple on October 19, 1984.

Don was no stranger to hard work and leadership. He worked at Standard Oil Refinery for 37 years in Richmond, California as a Chemical Engineer and Manager. He was a leader in the community of Pacheco, California as President of the Pacheco Town Council. He also demonstrated his leadership with the callings he had in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Don and Shirley worked together setting up a family history center in Redding, California. They were also workers in the Oakland Temple. Don was loved by all of his family and friends. He was looked up to and respected for his advice, love, leadership, hard work and his loving sense of humor. His forever family looks forward to the time when we will be with him again.

Don is survived by his wife, Shirley and 4 children: Iva Beckstead (Evan); Donald Wardle (Barbara) all of Orem, Utah, Vivian Russell (Dean) of Rawlins, Wyoming, and Sharon Loveridge of Lindon, Utah, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his 4 sisters: Lillie Smith of Boise, Idaho, Anne Wooden of Gallup, New Mexico, Phyllis Howard of Shady Cove, Oregon and Leona Gray of Bellflower, California. Don is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joe, Chet, Ernie, Wes, and Robert.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug 14, 2007 at 11 am in the American Fork 23rd Ward 680 No. 350. West. Friends may call at Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 North, Monday from 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
