The Progress, Clearfield, Pa., Wednesday, January 12, 1955 --

PINE GLEN - James R. "Rudy" Askey, Pine Glen, died at his home at 4:30 a.m. yesterday after an illness of several weeks.

He was born at Pine Glen June 22, 1886, a son of Robert and Willmina Force Askey. A son, James W., Pine Glen, survives.

A brother, Sherman Askey, Pine Glen, and three sisters, Mrs. Iva Berkey, Howard, Mrs. Edmond Roork, Philadelphia, and Mrs. James W. Hodge, Pine Glen, also survive.

He was a member of the Pine Glen Methodist Church. A veteran of World War I, he was an infantryman and served overseas.

For the past 25 years he has had the mail route between Karthaus and Moshannon. He was driver of a school bus for about 10 years and prior to that he was a farmer and lumberman.

The funeral will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Snow Shoe, Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Marcus W. Randall officiating.

Burial will be in the Pine Glen Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from Wednesday evening.
