Obituary -- The Thayer News, March 24, 1950:
"Esther Elizabeth Hefner Dunkin, daughter of Silas and Hannah Hefner, was born Jan. 3, 1868 in Oregon County, MO, and died March 17, 1950 in Hoxie, Ark., at the age of 82 years, 2 months.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Jefferson Dunkin July 8, 1883 and to this union fourteen children were born, four preceeding her in death. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by seven daughters, Jesse Dunkin of Myrtle; Essie Crass of Thayer; Ethel Crase of Jonesboro, Ark.; Bessie Pease of ...ning, Ark., Roxie Peace of Russell, Ark.; Lillie Lane of Myrtle; ...by Brewer of Couch; three sons ...ver Dunkin, Hoxie, Ark; Man...Dunkin of Myrtle; Clinton Dunkin of Kansas City; one sister, Viola Crass of Ackerly, Texas; 31 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. She was a sweet and loving mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held March ... Myrtle with Rev. Crase officiating. Burial in the Myrtle Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral home."
