"Henry" was the second of 12 children of Claus Ficken & Gesche Wrieden Ficken. He spent his entire life in Benton and Pettis Counties in Missouri. He was a farmer and moved his family often. Henry and his wife, Sena Koenke Ficken (1876-1957), had eight children:
Selma Margurite (1902-2008),
Laura Ficken (1904-1916),
,
William John Ernest Ficken Lula Bertha Katherine (Ficken) Scotten(1906-2003)(1907-1993),
Edna Christina Sophia (Ficken) Martin (1909-2001),
Clarence Claus Henry Ficken (1911-1988),
Glenna Ethel Elsie (Ficken) Bultemeier (1916-1985),
and Adolph Albert Andrew Ficken (1918-2015).

A lifelong Lutheran, he had recieved Holy Communion from his Pastor at home. He died that very evening in his sleep.
He is buried next to his wife, Sena, and his daughter Laura in the Ficken family plot at the Christian Cemetery. His daughter Lula Ficken Scotten(1906-2003) wrote of her father in her book "Maybe Tomorrow."
