ARCADIA, LA - Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Laverne Holland Best, 85 of Arcadia, La at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday May 30, 2010 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel Arcadia. Rev. Jeff Hoffman will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday 12 Noon till service time. The interment will follow at the Arcadia cemetery.
Mrs. Best was born October 4, 1924 in Union, La to Jesse G. Holland and Mattie McCravy Holland. She entered into rest on May 29, 2010 in Arcadia. Mrs. Best was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcadia. She worked for for the Bienville Parish School Board for 33 years. She had a degree from Louisiana Tech University.
Mrs. Best is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years F.L. Best, brothers and sisters, Earl Holland, Annie Mae Lay, Albert Holland, Betty Williams, Letha Knotts, Elenora Renfrow-Trarver, and Thelma Anderson.
Mrs. Best is survived by a sister Alma Williams. She had no children but had many loving nieces nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bo Hill, Bennie White, Phillip Lay, Kim Lay, Loyd Knotts and Dick Knotts.
