"Uncle Jim" was a very kind, loving, big-hearted man. He willingly took any family member under his roof and cared for them in times of need. Those family members included his widowed sister, Barbara Stevenson (Aitken) Anderson (#52987300) and her daughter, Edna; another widowed sister, Jeanettte Gibson (Aitken) Thompson (#52995500, my great-grandmother) and her three children, Nellie Opal (Thompson) Boyd (#57357224), Mary Velma (Thompson) Karber and Wilfred Gilmore Thompson (#48520081). Wilfred was my grandfather and grew up on Uncle Jim's farm, taking over the hard work when age caught up with Uncle Jim. Wilfred married and had two children before dying at a young age. And of course Uncle Jim welcomed the sad family into his home. He was a gentle, soft-spoken gentleman that was very highly thought of in the community and loved by all. He never married, perhaps his house and heart were always full.
