Yesterday afternoon took place the funeral of Jerry Bolles, the former proprietor of the well-known summer hotel at Conesns lake bearing his name. Mr. Bolles's death took place last Thursday as announced in Saturday's Democrat and Chronicle. He was widely known throughout Livingston county and Western New York. He was 70 years old. For the past five years Mr. Bolles for the most of the time had been confined to his chair from muscular rheumatism. Until about seven years, ago he was one of the most active nnd enterprising of the business men of Livonia, and "Jerry Bolles's" was a place visited by thousands of people from Rochester and vicinity, and many prominent Rochesterians spent their summer at his home-like lakeside resort. He Was the projector and one of the men most actively engaged in the construction of the Conesus lake branch of the Erie railroad. He at one time owned that part of McPherson point where the hotel now stands. In 1874 he built nnd opened what was there after familiarly known as "Jerry's," and remained in the summer resort business untill 1891. Mr. Bolles was born on the shores of Conesus lake, and with the exception of ten or twelve years, lived with-in a mile of his birthplace all his life. He was Also noted as a breeder and raiser of fine horses, and many a horseman has reason to be proud of the "Bolles Rattler" stock. He leaves a wife, a son, E. R. Bolles, of Livonia; a daughter and brother, Mrs. J. R. Crary, of Boone, Iowa; and John P., of Livonia to mourn his loss.
