Former Litchfield Resident Passes Away in Oregon
Mrs. Elizabeth Halbeisen received a message Friday noon that her son Harold aged 37 years had passed away at Corvallis, Oregon, Thursday, February 25 [sic]. No details or particulars of his death were given.
Harold Halbeisen grew to manhood in this vicinity, graduating with the Litchfield high school class of 1921, and later attended the State University at Lincoln. The past two or three years he has been living on a farm near Corvallis, Oregon. The remains will be brought to Litchfield for interment. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon.

Funeral Services For Harold Halbeisen Here Friday
Funeral services for Harold H. Halbeisen, 37, who died at his ranch home near Corvallis, Ore., on Febr. 27 were held here at the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon.
The son of Charles and Elizabeth Hirt Halbeisen, he was born at York, Nebr., March 3, 1904. At the age of one, he moved with his parents to Litchfield, where he attended the public schools. Later he was graduated from the University of Nebraska and accepted a position as an accountant in the state highway department. Later he served as an officer in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was in command of camps in Minnesota and Idaho. At the time of his death, he held a commission as a first lieutenant in the U. S. Army Reserve Corps.
While working in the state house in Lincoln, he met his wife, Miss Marion Tomiska of Grand island, and in 1937 the young couple were married at Lewiston, Idaho. Later they moved to Oregon and lived on a ranch until the time of his death.
His father, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Surviving besides his widow are his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Halbeisen, five sisters: Mrs. W. R. Daniels and Mrs. J. W. Fox of Litchfield; Miss Verna of Lincoln; Mrs. E. L. House of Ryderwood, Wash.; and Mrs. S. A. Williams of Manitou Springs, Colo.; four brothers: Carl and Mervin of Litchfield; John of Sheldon, Nebr.; and Albert of Hartford, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
Rev. A. W. Johnson of Minden, former pastor of the Methodist church here, was in charge of the services. The pall bearers were: Messers Charles Stewart, Glee Engleman, Ray Kuhn, Byrel Lang, Paul Givens and Paul Miller. Interment was in Litchfield cemetery.
