Old Resident of Litchfield Passes Away

The residents of Litchfield were shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Albert Dickerson, which occurred Saturday evening. Mrs. Dickerson had been in apparently good health and had even visited with her neighbors Saturday morning. When her son George came to town Saturday evening, he stopped to see how his mother was getting along, and upon entering the house he found her lying on the bed apparently asleep, but upon investigation, it was found that she had passed away. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Nazarene Tuesday afternoon, and a large number of people were in attendance to pay their respects to this good lady. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Sprague. Interment was made in the Litchfield cemetery.
Mrs. Dickerson came to this county many years ago and was amongst the first settlers to establish their homes in this community. She was loved and respected by all and the sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to the relatives in this sad hour of their great bereavement.
Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Gick [sic] Dickerson was born in Ogle County, Ill., in the year of 1856, Oct. the 23rd. She departed from this life Oct. the 15, 1927 having lived 70 years, 11 months and 22 days. She came to Nebraska with her parents when but a child, and in the year 1876, Nov. 2nd, she was married to Albert Dickerson. This union was blessed with eight children, two girls and six boys. The girls have preceeded [sic] her to their reward, but the boys, John, William, George, Charles, Ernest, and Edward are all living to mourn the loss of their mother. The boys have always been very thoughtful of their mother and who could more tenderly carry her body to the grave than they. Mrs. Dickerson's companion departed this life five years ago, the children being all grown made it necessary for her to spend many of her last days alone. She was alone when she passed away, yet she was not alone for in her testimony was usually these words, " Jesus lives with me." She was converted when a young woman, and united with the United Brethern [sic] church. Christian life until her death, and was always a worker in the Church as long as circumstance permitted her to attend. Besides these six sons mentioned above, a host of friends, and relatives, Mrs. Dickerson is survived...
