George Alexander (Pete) Cook, 84, died November 7, 1996 at his home in American Fork.

Born December 24, 1911 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to George Thomas and Lucy Ethel Brewsaugh Cook. He married Winifred Johnson August 19, 1944 in Long Beach, Calif. Marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple January 24, 1968.

George retired to Utah in 1991 after a long and distinguished career in construction. His specialty was concrete. In the late 1940's he supervised building forms and pouring concrete for the first four level bridge connecting the Los Angeles freeway systems. He was construction superintendent for schools in Santa Monica, Bellflower, Canoga Park, Sylmar, and for additions to hospitals in Santa Monica, Arcadia and Glendale, Calif. He was called by the Presiding Bishopric to supervise the building of three LDS chapels in England-Winchester, St. Albans, and Redcar from 1973 to 1976.

He is survived by his wife, Winifred; a daughter, Cathy (Doug) Jolley, Highland; and a son, Carl (Jane) Cook, Pacific Palisades, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; Three brothers, four sisters: J.W. Cook, Thomas H. Cook, Donald J. Cook, Louellen Swim, Elizabeth Hamilton, Minnie Fisher, Jean Moore, all of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest 2nd Ward, 150 West 1120 North, American Fork. Friends may call at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial, Price City cemetery.
