After the death of her husband Martin, Carolina and her six children [four sons and two daughters] left on March 26, 1887 for Elizabeth, Minnesota. Carolina's brother-in-law August Burau already lived in Elizabeth and provided passports [some or all]. They came by ship. The trip took 3 weeks. They settled on a small farm near Elizabeth.
