Dazel graduated from Geneva High School in 1916, and then attended the University of Nebraska. She returned to Geneva and taught in the high school.
Dazel was married to Dr. C. Cass Camp of Geneva on June 14, 1923, and to them three children were born. After their marriage they moved to Davenport, where Dazel taught at the Davenport High School and also assisted her husband in his dental office. She moved back to Geneva in 1964 after Cass passed away the previous year.
Dazel loved her family and friends. She also enjoyed doing handiework work and fishing. While in Davenport Dazel was the Davenport School Board secretary and belonged to the Woman's Club, Library Board and the United Methodist Church. She was very active in Eastern Star in both Davenport and Geneva, and she was a past-matron in both chapters.
Dazel was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C. Cass Camp; her parents, Walford and Rosalie Peterson; sister, Leta Tomlinson; and brothers, Dr. John C. Peterson and Dr. Paul L. Peterson.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David (Mary) Portwood of Geneva and Mrs. William (Dorothy)Wood of Hastings; a son, Don H. Camp of Houston, Tx.; four sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Murle) Abrahamzon of Lincoln; Mrs. J. W. (Rose) Hammond of Mesa, Az., Mrs. Fred (Helen) Biba of Geneva and Mrs. Marion Calder of Geneva; a brother,Frank Peterson of Miami, Fl., 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ on Thursday, June 2, with the Rev. Charles Schepel officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied the congregation, which sang "Abide with Me" and played an organ solo "Brightly Beams Our
Father's Mercy." Serving as pallbearers were Christopher Camp, William Wood Jr., Allan Wood, Robert Morris, Robert Breckner, and Richard Kohler. Interment was in the Geneva
Public Cemetery with Farmer & Son Funeral Home in charge of
the arrangements. Memorials are directed to the Geneva Chapter 180 Order of the Eastern Star or the Congregational Church.
