John Abb Pare was born June 6, 1867 in Alabama. When a small child, he moved to Winchester, Tenn. He was the son of Abb Pare (Parr) and Fannie Robinson Pare. At the age of 19 he came to Texas and settled on the farm of Burr Cockrell located 4 miles west of Royse City. Being throw upon his own initiative, he won the admiration of all the respected population, by his ardor in pursuing his tasks by hard work and high standards of gentlemenly conduct. Placing virtue and honesty as his most cherished attributes of a man, he exemplified them from his youth until he departed his life. He was remembered by all who knew him in his active years as one of the hardest workers that ever lived in these environs. He and his companion and help mate supported and maintained a large family of children by the labors of their own hands: He married Vanarah Carpenter Pare, Jan. 1st, 1896 in Collin County, TX. They had the following children:
Horace Hayle Pare, Ghlee "Johnnie" Pare-Watson, Gaynelle Pare-Wright, Grace Glycene Pare-Lane, Hazel Pare-Nixon, Helen Pare-Coates, Lendon Lloyd Pare, Lois Gladys Pare-Huffman, Juanita Earline Pare-Boyd and Jeanette Pare-Vervalin.
Both he and Vanarah being orphans from early childhood, they had their own difficulties to face themselves, but both had a determination to provide and provide abundantly for their dearest treasures, their children. They gave of their best to the rearing of their children, who will rise up to call them blessed. (Written by his daughter, Jeanette Vervalin, in his funeral book.)
