Mr. Stines was born in Beckley, WV and served in the United States Navy from 1960 until 1981. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served three tours. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Stines served as Addictive Disease Program Director at Charter Lake Hospital from 1982 – 1995 and Director of Addictive Services at Riveredge Behavioral Health Care Center from 1995 – 2008. He was the son of the late Lewis and Ethel Morgan Stines.
Mr. Stines is survived by his wife, Kathy Stines of Macon; daughter, Amy Lachapelle (Sandy) Aldridge of Camas, WA; sons, Alan Stines of Macon and Michael Stines of Corpus Christi, TX; brother, Roger (Vonneva) Stines of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Kay (Stephen) Fanok of Morgantown, WV; six grandchildren.
