Nancy Jane was one of the most widely known and oldest residents of Western Kentucky when she died at 102. Known as Aunt Jane to many, she was a member of the Methodist Church since she was 17 years old but at the time of death she was a member of Mt Hebron Church. She says she owes her long life to her devoutness to the Lord.
Nancy grew up in Lawrence County Tennessee near Lawrenceburg and vividly recalls the tumultuous events of the Civil War many of which occurred in her home county.
In 1865, she married William Calvin Clark from Calloway County Kentucky just north of Henry County Tennessee. He preceded Nancy in death in 1900. Surviving of their parents; 3 daughters, 4 sons, 39 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
William Calvin Clark was a soldier with Confederacy. He came from Fulton Co., KY before Graves Co. With his first wife he had four children. With Nancy he had eight children. Nancy was half Indian.(Final paragraph info provided by member# 48107902)
