Rites held at Mt. Zion for Frank Garner

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from Mt. Zion Methodist Church for Frank Garner, 80, who was dead on arrival at the Jefferson Davis Couty Hospital Tuesday morning. Rev. James Turnage, Rev. Charlie Reid and Rev. Toxey Hedgepeth officiated and interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Tommy Hoover, Francis Herrin, Junior Bullock, William Herrin, Reggie Magee, Guy Boleware, Claude Boleware and Douglas Raybon.

Mr. Garner was a native and lifelong resident of the Prentiss area. For a number of years he resided in the Granby Community where he was active in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. For the past several years he had resided in Prentiss where he was a member of the Prentiss Methodist Church. He served as Justice of the Peace of District One for a number of years. He had been in failing health for several months.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Herrin Garner; one son, R. G. Garner of the Clem Community; one daughter, Mrs. Lee Earl Miller of Jackson; one sister, Mrs. W. F. "Bill" Langston of the Granby Community; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
