Second Wife of Dr. John THOMPSON, 1820-1861, buried Glenwood Cemetery, Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia, USA.

"Doctor John THOMPSON and Elizabeth Ann CHENEY of Monroe County, Ga., were married in 1843. She was the daughter of Aquila CHENEY and Elizabeth MIDDLEBROOK CHENEY who was the daughter of John MIDDLEBROOK of Brick Store Post Office, Ga., who served in the Revolutionary War."

"Elizabeth Ann CHENEY was born in Monroe County, Ga., in 1825. Doctor John THOMPSON settled with his family in Thomaston, Ga., in 1850. He was a physician and druggist. He died in Thomaston in 1861, his wife in 1909."

"About the close of the Civil War when many sick and wounded soldiers were camped in Thomaston, she offered her home for their benefit."

"Doctor John THOMPSON was born in Clark County, Georgia, in 1820, was a descendant of Sir John THOMPSON who became the first Baron Haversham of England, 1696, also of Col. William and John THOMPSON who were members of Provincial Congress from Orange and Chatham counties of North Carolina and Virginia, 1775. The coat of Arms of Sir John THOMPSON were the motto "In Lumine Luce." Doctor John THOMPSON was the son of Rev. John THOMPSON, a Methodist Minister, born in Virginia in 1781 and Nancy Haygood THOMPSON, born in Virginia in 1781." [End of P:993]

"About the year 1860 they moved to Monroe Co., Ga., near Strouds Cross Roads. He was a descendant of Wm. C. THOMPSON who settled in Roxbury, Mass., 1636."

"Middleton Thompson, brother of Doctor John THOMPSON saw service in the Civil War and was killed in action."

Victoria, mother of John A. Thurston and Mrs. Annie Grace HANNAH BOOTH; [she is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia, USA, Find-A-Grave Memorial 21500454, located 9/11/2007, wife of Dr. G. W. T. HANNAH, 1841-1906, also buried Glenwood Cemetery, Upson County, Georgia, USA]

John, who moved to Texas about the year 1867, and died there leaving one son John, three daughters, Elsie, Elizabeth and Sallie.

Sallie, who became the wife of R. A. MATTHEWS, the mother of [daughter, Susie, P:954, died October 15, 1878, 3 years of age, P:954] [son,] Albert Thompson MATTHEWS, Miss Mamie V.[ Mamie Victoria, P:954], Mrs. Bessie O'NEAL [Bessie Birch, P:954], Mrs. Nevelle ELDREDGE, Robert Millwood, and Mrs. Louise STEPHENS. Two daughters, Mary Frances, 16; and Julia, one year old; died in 1861 and Benson Louise, 16 died in 1870. Isaac Cheney THOMPSON, son of Dr. John and Elizabeth Cheney THOMPSON, is at this writing [1930] living in Thomaston, Ga., and has the following children living, Bennie, Joseph, Mrs. Lillie FARLEY, wife of M. C. FARLEY, of Moultrie, Ga., Lottie, the wife of W. J. VEREEN of Moultrie, and Aquila Cheney THOMPSON. Two children died in infancy, Ida May and John." [End of P:994]
