4/21/1895 - Atlanta Constitution - JUDGE A. J. CHENEY DEAD - A Special Train Will Leave Atlanta for East Point This Afternoon.

Judge A. J. Cheney, one of the best known citizens of Georgia, died at his late residence in East Point yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock.

The cause of his death was Bright's disease. He had been afflicted with the complaint since last Christmas and the end of his suffering was clearly forseen from the beginning. Judge Cheney had been a resident of East Point for seven or eight years prior to his death.

Judge Cheney was a man of action and possessed a temperament intensely energetic. For a number of years, he was a leading merchant of Thomaston, Ga and was successful in the accumulation of a good property. He was universally esteemed by all who knew him and no one ever assailed his good name or doubted his personal intergrity.

Judge Cheney leaves a devoted wife to mourn his departure. At the time of his death, he was sixty two years of age. During his residence at East Point, he gained the confidence and esteem of that entire community.

The following gentlemen will act as pallbearers. Messers L. J. Hill, F. H. Richardson, A. W. Hill, Thomas F. Murray, A. O. M. Gay, S. N. Connally, F. A. Quillian and B. M. Blount.

A special train for East Point will leave the union passenger depot this afternoon at 1 o'clock, reutnring to the city at 3 o'clock.

The interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.

Cheney from his residence at East Point, this Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Oakland Cemetery. Special train will leave union depot at 1 o'clock p.m. and return at 3 o'clock p.m. The following genntlemen are requested to meet at his residence to act as pallbearers: L. J. Hill, F. H. Richardson, A. W. Hill, Thomas F. Murray, A. O. M. Gay, S. N. Connally, F. A. Quillian, B. M. Blount.
