JOHN PAUL CHRISTY
Paul, son of John Henry and Margaret Doran Christy, was born March 18, 1906, near Coon Rapids, Iowa. He attended Annunciation Elementary School in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School.
He was united in marriage with Wilda Conner on August 15, 1927, in Coon Rapids. To this union eleven children were born. Wilda died on December 13, 1967. After living in Oregon, they moved back to Coon Rapids a short time before moving to Des Moines. Paul worked in retail sales most of his life, with many of those years working for Sears in Des Moines, Iowa.
On May 29,1968, he was united in marriage with Gertrude Mingus Christy. After living in Des Moines for two years, he retired and they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Paul was a wonderful father to his nine children, as well as to Gertrude's ten children. He had been in failing health for several months before his death at St. Joseph Hospital, Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 14,1983, at the age of 77 years, 27 days.
He was a member of the Queen of Heaven Parish of Albuquerque.
Besides his first wife, Wilda, he was preceded in death by one son and one daughter in infancy; 3 grandsons; four brothers, Robert Christy, James Gerald Christy, Rev. Father Willard Christy, and Donald Christy; and three sisters, Josephine Christy, Clara Edman, and Nell Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, Albuquerque, N;M., his children: Virginia and husband, Dean Corson, Coon Rapids, Larry Christy and wife, Nancy, Des Moines, Frank Christy and wife, Nancy, Des Moines, Bob Christy and wife, Donna, Creston, Mary Ellen and husband, Gary Clothier, Des Moines, Dan Christy, and wife, Kathi, Adel, Pat Christy, Adel, Jerry Christy and wife, Janice, Ottumwa, Michelle and husband; Gaylen Little, Brownfield, Tx.; Gertrude's children: Charlotte and husband, Bryan Lee, Albuquerque, N.M., Carol and husband, Jim Humphrey, Dallas, Tx., Mary and husband, Joe Leahy, Omaha, Ne., Alice and husband, Truman Williams, Albuquerque, N.M., Greg Christy, Minneapolis, Mn., Geraldine and husband, Dave Thomas, Blairsburg, la., Bill Christy, Albuquerque, N.M., Ed Christy and wife, Sarah, Albuquerque, N.M.; Linda Prine, Marshalltown, and Leonard Christy, Las Vegas, Nv.
