Thomas Jefferson Phillips.

Son of Madison Monroe & Nancy Lavisa Newman Phillips.

Murdered on Christmas Day 1879 by two African American men for a small sum of money,in Tangipahoa Parish,La.
He was beaten to death by pickets from a nearby fence.
The two accused men plus two others were broken out from the Amite Louisiana jail by a large group of Jeffie's friends and killed.
