Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic for Chad Edwards Sonnier, 36, who passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Readers will be Karen Hayes, Donna Jones and Lisa Hebert. Giftbearers will be Kyle Viator, Paige LeBlanc and Landon Clark.

Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Chad, a resident of Youngsville, was the son of Henry Curris Sonnier and the former Brenda Breaux of Scott. Chad was employed by Teche Electric for the last 10 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He graduated from Acadiana High School class of 1990 with honors, graduated Cum Lauder from McNeese State University in 1994, attended USL from 1995 until 1998 studying Mass Communications. Chad was a registered Eagle Scout; belonged to the Acadian Home Builders Association; the Chamber of Commerce; and the Realtors Association of Acadiana. He was very active in Mardi Gras here in Lafayette being a member of the Krewe of Karencro, serving on their Board of Directors, Ball Captain of the Krewe of Karencro for 5 years, the Krewe of Oberon having served as King Oberon LVIII where he was presently serving on their Board of Directors. Chad was a true "people person" and will be sadly missed by all he knew, touched and came into contact with.

Pallbearers will be R. Bruin Hayes, Kenneth Viator, Terry Clark, David LeBlanc, Jamie Tew, and Melvin Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers will be Norbert Stoutes, Nelon "Shorty" Sonnier, Gerald LeBlanc, Derrick Maitre and Doyle Boudreaux. He is survived by his parents, Henry C. Sonnier and Brenda Breaux Sonnier of Scott; his dear and very special friend, Christy Geoffroy of Youngsville; his godfather, Kenneth Viator and his wife, Cherie of Duson; his special childhood babysitter, Mary Stoutes and her husband, Norbert of Duson; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many many loving and kind friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marcel Sonnier, Jr. and Odile Sonnier Sonnier; his maternal grandparents, Louis Breaux and Beulah Higginbotham Breaux; his godmother, Savannah Breaux Viator; two uncles and two aunts.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and continue Friday from 8:00 am until time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home in Scott.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm in the funeral home by the Krewe of Oberon.
