Mark J Bartlett, age 83, passed away October 27, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 5, 1925 in Tridell, Utah to Charles Owen and Mabel Jones Bartlett.

Throughout his lifetime Mark was never idle. He worked with his father for many years "up on the mountain" at the family owned sawmill. After he returned from military service in Central Europe, he worked at a dairy farm until he hired on at Hammond Iron Works. When Clegg Construction hired him, he worked many years of concrete construction, both flat work and structural. His skills as a welder, a builder, a repairman, and a craftsman were an asset to his employers for many years. He concluded his official employment by working for the LDS Church.

Mark married his sweetheart Lurrine Moosmann on June 18, 1947, and together they raised six children, mainly in Orem in a home he proudly proclaimed he and mom "knew where every nail had been placed", because they built it together. Mark loved working with wood both building and turning. He had a twinkle in his eye and mischief in his heart. He had intuition and knowledge that surpassed any formal training. His children and grandchildren knew that under any circumstance "Poppa could fix it."

Mark's enjoyment of music, his kindness with animals, his dedicated care of his beloved wife and disabled daughter, his beautiful blue eyes, and his unconditional love for his family will keep him alive in the memories of all who knew him.

He is survived by his five children: Merilyn (Roy) Stuart of Bluffdale; Howard Owen Bartlett of Orem; Wendy Bartlett of Holladay; Amy (Bob) Hill of Huntington; Ann (Robert) Porter of Sandy. His Grandchildren: Mark, Julie, Paul, T.J., Heidi, Tyler, Brad, Kevin, Lance; Great-grandchildren, Dallin, Brennan and Hailey and two more on the way. He is also survived by his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife Lurrine, by his daughter Jill, his grandson Matthew, and by a son-in-law, Michael Bradley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 31, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., in the Cherry Hill Ward Chapel, 1650 South 200 East, Orem. Friends may call Thursday evening, at the Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 North State Street, from 6-8 p.m., or Friday morning, at the Ward Chapel, one hour prior to services. Interment, Timpanogos Memorial Gardens, 1000 North 400 East, Orem. Full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 72 of Orem.
