Edith M. McDaniel, 79, Sullivan, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2002.

She was born June 23, 1922, at Potosi, the daughter of Clarence Griggs and wife Ollie, nee Broombaugh.

Later in her life, she was united in marriage to Ralph E. McDaniel, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1980.

Mrs. McDaniel worked for approximately 25 years as a factory laborer in the shoe manufacturing industry.

She was a longtime member of the New Testament Baptist Church, Sullivan, where she enjoyed participating in various church activities.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest and John Griggs; and one brother and one sister in infancy, Mitchell and Coleen Griggs.

She is survived by three brothers, Oral Griggs, Hillsboro, Amos Griggs and wife Leoma, Potosi, and Kenneth Griggs and wife Lola, Posey, California; one sister, Edna Sohn, St. Clair; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many other friends.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 24, at Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, with Pastor Charles Idleman officiating.

Interment was in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods.
