Son of John Harrison Caldwell and Alma Ann Jones.

He signed his name, in the World War I Draft registration, as Robert Latta Caldwell. In the family bible, he was Robert Lattie Caldwell. He went by Latt. Mom always called him Uncle Latt. Mom said he saved 1/2 of every cent he ever earned. I remember visiting him with mom when he was 90 years old, and he had just bought a new, loaded, 2 door, red, hardtop Buick. I can still see him in his overalls, when he told mom and I that it hadn't done him any good (with reference, I am sure, to the ladies). He probably paid cash over in Greenwood like he and my granddad would do...Wearing their coveralls. I would like to have been there to see that. My grandaddy Fred was his brother, and they were a lot alike. There will never be any more like them... except maybe some of their descendants I suppose..Tom M. Short II

He married Mary Rebbeca Galloway on 10 Apr. 1908, in Huntington, Sebastian Co., Arkansas and they had 2 children;
Glenn Galloway Caldwell b. 2 Jun 1909 d. 8 July 2011, 102 years old.
Harold Bell Caldwell b. 14 Jul 1915, d. Apr 1979
