Natchitoches, June 28 (Special) -- W. A. Stamper, 65 years old, was instantly killed and his wife, age 61, was fatally injured when their automobile, in which they were en route to Winnfield to visit relatives and attend the wedding of a niece, swerved from the highway at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, pinning them under the wreckage. Mrs. Stamper was rushed to a local hotel hospital where she died two hours later. The body of Stamper was taken to the home of relatives in Winnfield.

Word was received here Saturday afternoon from the scene of the accident said the accident occurred when the car rounded a sharp curve in the Natchitoches-Winnfield road and Stamper was unable to control it. The car was completel demolished.

Mr. and Mrs. Stamper had been residents of this city for 26 years.

Mrs. Stamper is survived by five brothers and three sisters: J. B. Averett, Hallsville, Texas; B. E. Averett, Gilmer, Texas; C. H. Averett, Dallas; W. W. Averett, Shreveport; W. O. Averett, Winnfield; Mrs. J. R. Watt and Mrs. C. E. Sompayrac, Winnfield, and Mrs. W. S. Baycrost, Pocahontas, Miss. No near relatives survive Mr. Stamper.

Final arrangements for Mr. and Mrs. Stamper had not been made late Saturday, although announcement was made that funeral rite probably would be held Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church at Winnfield, conducted by the Rev. J. V. Tinnin, pastor of the First Baptist church. Interment will be in Winnfield cemetery.
