Son of Palatine German immigrants, Andries "Löwe" "Löeb" Lape & Anna Margaretha Müller.
Samuel Lape was born in early Albany County, NY, lived in Claverack & Rensselaerwyck prior to moving to Summit, NY. He was a Sergeant in the Henry K. Van Rensselaer's (6th) Regiment (Albany County), New York Militia, during the Revolutionary War.
Husband of Elizabeth Hidley.
