Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Lee Moody Bankston, 91, of Decatur will be Saturday May 22, 2010 at noon at Westside Baptist Church in Decatur, Rev. George Smith, Pastor. The Rev. Robert Brown will officiate. The body will lie in repose one hour before the service. Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bankston, who passed away Sunday morning, May 16, 2010 at her home, was born January 20, 1919 in Lawrence County to the late Garfield and Willie Moody. She lived in Decatur for 60 years where she was very active in both her church and community. She was a member of David Temple Church where she had served as Youth Advisor, Women's Auxiliary President and Vice President, choir member, Sunday school teacher and a Mother of the church. She was also an Advisor to the Junior Congress as well as Field Agent of the Congress. She was a member of the Excellsor Gospel Singers, The Decatur Community Chorus, Order of the Eastern Star Elizabeth Chapter No. 40 and the Semper Fidelis Club.

Mrs. Bankston organized the Little Neighbor Choral Group that sang throughout North Alabama. She participated in the Foster Grandparent Program.

She will always be remembered by her devoted children, Emma Grider, Carol Harris (Freddie), Willie Bankston Jr. (Natalie) and Rachael Davis, all of Decatur; grandchildren, David A. Grider, Shelia Vinson, Shaundora Harris, Freddie Harris III, Clemente Gibb and Erica Horton, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
