Arvilla was born in American Fork Utah to Ross Cunningham and Lila Haslem. In her own words she said " I had one of the best dads and mothers any girl could ask for. They believed in teaching their children to live the principles of the church and always set examples by living the same." She met her husband James Hooks at an open air dance hall in provo. On June 28th 1937 they were married. Jim worked very hard all his life to provide for Arvilla and their three children Reese, Deanna and Don. A few simple facts that help describe Arvilla are as follows, she and Jim loved to take their children and go camping. Arvilla and Jim had a nice home in Orem where they grew many fruit trees and berry bushes. She worked as a school lunch lady for many years. She had a great seance of humor. She was and is loved much by her children and grandchildren.
