Sarah was the daughter of Robert and Lydia Nichols Gott. She married Robert Maddox 8/18/1820 in Shelby Co., KY. They moved to Montgomery Co., IN before 1830. Robert died there in 1835. Sarah then married Alexander Scott 4/15/1848 in Montgomery Co., IN. She and Robert had 4 known children.

Mrs. Maddox will open a school in Crawfordsville on the 2nd Monday in March next and will teach the following branches, viz: reading, writing, geography, arithmetic, English grammar, philosophy, chemistry, rhetoric, astronomy, history, drawing, painting and music, with the use of instruments to practice on.
