Mrs. Doris Smith
Mrs. Doris Mattie Smith, 58, of 510 Burnett Ferry Rd., died Thursday at 5:40 p.m. in a Rome Hospital following an illness of several months, her condition becoming serious 10 days ago.
She was born in Huntsville, Ala. July 28, 1909, daughter of the late Thomas and Clemmie Troup Eakin but had spent most of her life in Rome and Floyd County. She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband Oscar O. E. Smith to whom she was married in July 1951; four daughters, Mrs. Bill Miller, Rome, Mrs. James Alexander, Marietta, Mrs. Joyce Worsham, Atlanta and Mrs. James Edmondson, Monroe; two sons, Eulis Mize, Rome and Lynn Eakin, Lantana, Fla.; and 28 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Collins officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. today. At other hours the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Mrs. Bill Miller, 5 Jones Avenue.
Pallbearers include Bill Miller, Bill Worsham, Jerry Alexander, James Edmondson, C.E. Miller and Sonny McCain.

1st husband: Eulis Eugene Mize, Sr. born 1909/1910 Alabama, went missing 1938 from Rome, Ga.
